Summer News
Greetings to All Park Users,
Your help is needed to keep our park a clean and safe place. Please note the following:
--A dog-park clean-up day is scheduled for Saturday, August 2, 8:00 - 10:00 am (rain date: Sunday, August 3, 8:00 am to 10:00 am). Please bring your gloves and garden tools, and let's get rid of those darned weeds. Trash bags will be provided.
--Please be an active member of the poop posse. If you stumble upon a stray poop, pick it up. If you see an unwatched pup pooping, kindly let the owner know. Unclaimed dog waste is a health hazard. Anything you can do to keep the park sanitary is much appreciated and good for everyone's health.
--The trash bins in the park are emptied once a week. Please cooperate with sanitation workers on trash-removal days by keeping all dogs away from the gates to allow the workers unrestricted access. Do not let your dog approach or harass the workers.
--If your dog is a digger, please grab a rake from the shed and fill up any hole your dog makes.
--There will always be new park users and/or people unaware of best practices in the dog park. Please help them out with a gentle suggestion or correction if they appear to be unfamiliar with dog park rules and regulations. FYI: The rules are posted on the gate at the front entrance and at http://www.madisondogs.org/rules--regulations.html. Copies of our Dog Park Safety and Etiquette brochure are located on the park’s bulletin board.
--Save the date: Dog Park Annual Meeting, Saturday, October 12, 10:00 am to 11:30 am at the Madison Community Center (the building next to the dog park). Public support and demand can be a factor in County budget priorities. Show the County your support of Madison by attending the annual meeting.
The Madison Canine Community Area Sponsor Group works with the Arlington County Department of Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources (DPRCR) and with park users to maintain and improve park facilities, educate park users, and maintain an orderly park environment. Please send your questions and suggestions to Madison.Dogs@verizon.net. The meetings of the Sponsor Group are open to all park users. The next meeting is scheduled for September 16 at 7:00 p.m. at the Madison Community Center.
